IMPORTANT – Collecting of Scouts

20 October 2015

It was agreed at a recent group executive meeting new requirements for the collection at Scouts at the end of an evening. We would like all Scouts to be collected from the Scout Hut by a parent or suitable guardian at the end of each troop night. This is especially important now the evenings are becoming darker, with the young people leaving late at night.

As a Scout group we have a duty of care to the children and feel this is being breached by letting the children leave by themselves. We realise that the children are becoming older and want to be more independent however we feel it is safest if the children are collected from the Scout Headquarters, by a responsible adult. We also feel this policy enables someone to be present at the end of a Scout evening so we can communicate to you any messages about the evening or other Scouting events directly. This policy also brings Scouts into line with Beavers and Cubs who are also collected from the hut at the end of a session.

If you need to discuss this letter further please don’t hesitate to contact myself or your Scout Leader on a troop night.

Assistant Group Scout Leader
